Crochet Cap Design

Crochet cap design:

Today I will discuss about the crochet cap in which I included different patterns like star stitch, single crochet, double crochet and half double crochet.

I started a cap design from head band and for that I made 118 chains as a base chain. You can increase or decrease the number of chains by measuring your head band.

After making 118 chains make a slip stitch to make a circle (insert a hook into first chain of foundation chain and yarn over on hook and pull through it to make a slip stitch).

·         To start a 1^st row make a half double crochet (yarn over on hook then insert a hook into next chain and then yarn over on hook and pull through it you will notice there is 3 loops on hook then again yarn over on hook and pull through it from all the loops so, that only one loop remains on a hook) in each chain. And at the end of the first row make a slip stitch to complete the 1st row.

·         Repeat the steps of 1^st row to make a 2^nd row. I have made these 2 rows with green colour yarn.

·         To start a 3^rd row, make a single stitch in each 118 chains.

·         Repeat this process to complete the 11 rows. The total numbers of rows are 14 rows with multi colour yarn.

·         I used green colour yarn to start a 15 row. In 15^th row make a half double crochet in each chain. And at the end of the 15^th row make a slip stitch to complete the 15^th row.

·         In 16 and 17 rows make double crochet in each 118 chains.

·         To start an 18 row I used multi-colour yarn and make single crochet in each chain. Repeat this process to complete the 19 and 20 row.

·         To start a 21 row make single crochet by using green colour yarn in each chain.

·         To start a 22^nd and 23^rd row make single crochet by using multi-colour yarn in each chain.

·         In 24^th and 25^th row I made a star stitch by making 3 chains and then make a star stitch. The total number of star stitch in 25^th row is 58.

·         In 26^th and 27^th row make single crochet by using multi-colour yarn in each chain.

·         In 28^th row I started to decrease the size of cap by skipping 1 chain after each 5 chains by dong single crochet (using green colour yarn).

·         In 29^th row repeat the 28^th row process to complete the row by using multi colour.

·         In 30^th and 31^st row make a star stitch but in 31^st row you have to make only 1 half double crochet stitch in each eye of the star. The number of star stitch is 39.

·         To start a 32^nd row the number of chain is 40 and you have to skip one chain by making single crochet in each chain.

·         In 33^rd row make 2 chains and then in next chain make 1 triple crochet with 2 chains. In that way make 10 triple crochet.

·         And in last 34^th row make a single crochet and then make a knot ant cut the yarn. With the help of needle insert the extra yarn into a design.

Beard crochet design

Beard Crochet Design pattern:

·         To start a design first of all we have to make base chain. Number of chain is depends on the length of your project. I will make 30 chains to show the design very clearly. You can make 5, 10 or 15 chain according to your project.

·         After making 30 base chains, you have to make single crochet stitch (insert a hook in next chain and pull a yarn through the loop and then yarn over the hook and then pull the yarn through the 2 loops on hook. There is one loop remain on hook).

·         To start a 2^nd row you have to turn your project so, that you can start next row. In this way you make a design in back side of your project. In 2^nd row first you have to make 2 chains and then make half double crochet (half double crochet: yarn over on hook and then insert a hook in next chain and yarn over on hook and pull through the yarn from all the 3 loops and only one loop remain on a hook) and now start a beard stitch by making half double crochet and then yarn over on hook from front side of half double crochet and then again, yarn over on hook from back side of half double crochet. Repeat this process 3 times and at last yarn over on hook and pull through all loops remain on a hook. You will notice there is only one loop remaining on hook.

·         After making 1^st beard stitch you have to skip next chain and in 2^nd chain insert a hook and make half double crochet. After making half double crochet, start making beard stitch by yarn over on hook from front side of half double crochet and then again yarn over on hook from back side of half double crochet. In this way you have to complete the 2^nd row.

·         Continue these steps in each 30 chains.

·         After completing the 2^nd row, turn the project and start the 3^rd row by making 1 chain and in next chain make single crochet and make single crochet to complete the 3 row.

·         After completing the 3^rd row, turn the project to start the 4^th row by making 2 chains and in next chain you have to make half double crochet and then yarn over on hook from front side of half double crochet and then yarn over on hook from back side of half double crochet. Do this process 3 times and after that yarn over on hook and pull through from all the loops on hook. You will notice there is only one loop remains on hook. Repeat this process to complete the 4th row.

·         In 5^th row you have to make single crochet in each chain to complete the 5th row.

       In 6th row you have to repeat 3rd and 4th row steps 

In crochet the good thing is you can add different designs in your single project to make it beautiful.

·         By completing the 6^th row, you can start 7^th row by making 1 chain and after that complete the 7^th row with single crochet chain stitch.

·         You can repeat 7^th row steps to complete the 8^th and 9^th row.

·         And then again start making beard stitch in 10^th row.

Star Crochet Design pattern

Today’s post is about “how to crochet star stitch?”

Let’s start making a star stitch:

·         First of all to start you have to make slip knot and then make 41 chain stitches.

·         After making 41 chain stitches insert a hook in next chain and yarn over on hook and pull through it. You will notice that there are 2 loops on a hook.

·         Again insert a hook in next chain and yarn over on hook and pull through it. There are 3 loops on hook.

·         Repeat this process until there are 6 loops remain on a hook.

·         Than yarn over on hook and pull through all 6 loops. And there is only 1 loop remains on a hook.

·         After that you have to make a single chain. Now half star design has made.

·         To start a next design, insert a hook in that single chain and yarn over on hook and pull through it. There are 2 loops remain on a hook.

·         Insert a hook in last stitch of a design and yarn over on hook and then pull through it. It makes 3 loops on a hook.

·         Then insert a hook in last chain of a design and yarn over on hook and pull through it. There are 4 loops remain on a hook.

·         In next chain insert a hook and yarn over on hook then pull through it. There are 5 loops on a hook. You have to repeat this process until there are 6 loops remain on a hook.

·         Than yarn over on hook and pull through all 6 loops. And there is only 1 loop remains on a hook.

·         After that you have to make a single chain. Now half star design has made.

·         Repeat this process to complete the row and in last only one chain is remain in the row. So you have to make half star design with only 5 loops on a hook. And by making a single chain your row is completed.

·          At the end of the row you will make half double crochet.

·         To start a next row you have to make 2 chains.

·         Then you have to make 2 half double crochet in eye of a half star stitch. Now first star stitch is made.

·         In next half star stitch make 2 half double crochet to complete the star stitch and then make a 2 half double crochet to complete a next design.

·         In this way you have to complete the 2^nd row and at the end make a slip stitch. After completing the 2^nd row you will notice that the 18 star stitches are made.

·         The 3^rd row is same as 1^st row the upper chain of 2^nd row is act as a base chain for 3^rd row.

·         To start 3rd row you have to make 3 chain and then insert a hook in next chain and yarn over on hook then pull through it. And there are 2 loops remain on a hook.

·         Insert a hook in next chain and yarn over on hook then pull through it. Now there are 3 loops remain on hook.

·          Follow the 1st row steps to complete the 3^rd row.

·         And 4^th row is same as 2^nd row.

Crochet Drawstring Bag Design -2

To make a shell stitch design:

Let’s start making 9^th row, first of all make one chain stitch and then skip one chain and in 3^rd chain make shell stitch (make 5 double crochet in 3^rd chain). Then again skip 2 chains and in 3^rd chain make shell stitch (make 5 double crochet in 3^rd chain). Repeat this process to complete the 9^th row.

You will notice at the end of the 9^th row there is 12 shell stitches and at the end of a design make a slip stitch to close the design and finish the 9^th row.

To start 10^th row you have to make one single chain and then skip 2 chains and in 3^rd chain insert a hook to make a shell stitch like you made in previous row. And again skip 2 chains and in 3^rd chain insert a hook and make shell stitch and again repeat this process to complete the 10^throw.

And at the end of the 10^th row make a slip stitch to close the design.

When making a shell stitch on 3^rd chain it will be the 3^rd double crochet chain of 9^th row or middle of the shell stitch of 9^th row.

Same as 10^th row you have to make 13 rows. If you want to increase your bag length size then you can also make further row.

I made 13 row of shell stitch design for my bag.

Note: 9^th row is first row for the shell stitch design so, you have to make 13 rows of shell stitch. It means next design started from 22^nd row.

In 22^nd row make 2 single chains and in next chain make single double crochet in each chain. And make total of 72 chains. And make a slip stitch to complete the 22^nd row.

In 23^rd chain make 3 chains and then skip 2 chains and in 3^rd chain make half double crochet, then again make 2 chains and skip 2 chains and insert a hook on 3^rd chain to make half double crochet. Repeat this process or step to complete the 23^rd row. And at the end make a slip stitch with the 2 single first chain of this row.

To start a 24^th row make a chain and then skip 2 chains  and on 3^rd chain insert a hook to make a shell stitch (always remember shell stitch is on half double crochet chain). Repeat this step to finish the 24^th row and make a slip stitch to finish the design. 

The 24^th row is the last row of the bag. So, after completing it cut the yarn and with the help of needle, hide the yarn into the design.

To make a drawstring:

Take 2 long yarns of same size by measuring the bag width, and make a first knot to start a design. With index finger and middle finger hold tightly the yarns respectively.

First yarn over the index finger yarn on hook from front side of hook and then yarn over the middle finger yarn from back side of hook and then pull through it. In this way you make a first chain of drawstring. Again follow the same step yarn over the index finger yarn on hook from front side of hook and then yarn over the middle finger yarn on hook from the backside of the hook. And then pull through it, and now you have 2 chains. Follow the same step and complete the drawstring. At the end make a knot to close the chain

Crochet Drawstring Bag Part 1

To start a design you have to make a knot like 

 But don't pull the crochet thread or wool tight. You will notice there is a circle formed which is a center of your design.

Into that circle make 12 double crochet and make a flat base.

After making 12 double crochet make a slip stitch to complete the design. You will notice that you made a flower design.

 One thing always remembers that don’t make tight double crochet if you do that your base turns into a basket shape.

After completing, the first row, make 2 chains to start a 2^nd row. And in each chain of double crochet of 1^st row make 2 double crochet. The total number of double crochet in 2^nd row must be 24. And after making 24 double crochet make a slip stitch to complete the 2^nd row.

As a number of rows increases, the size of the design also increases by adding one double crochet in first chain and in next chain making 2 double crochet.

To start a 3^rd row make 2 chains and in 1^st chain of double crochet make single double crochet and in next chain make 2 double crochet. Repeat this process to finish the 3^rd row. The total number of double crochet in 3^rd row is 36.

To start a 4^th row make 2 chains and in first 2 chains of double crochet make single double crochet and in 3^rd chain make 2 double crochet. Repeat this process to complete the 4^th row. The total number of double crochet in 4^th row is 48.

To start a 5^th row make 2 chains and in first 3 chains of double crochet make single double crochet and in 4^th chain make 2 double crochet. And in 5^th, 6^th, and 7^th chain of double crochet make single double crochet and in 8^th chain make 2 double crochet. Repeat this process to complete the 5^th row. The total number of double crochet in 5^th row is 60.

To start a 6^th row make 2 chains and in first 4 chains of double crochet make single double crochet and in 5^th chain make 2 double crochet. And in 6^th, 7^th, 8^th and 9^th chain of double crochet make single double crochet and in 10^th chain make 2 double crochet. Repeat this process to complete the 5^th row. The total number of double crochet in 6^th row is 72. At the end you have to make slip stitch to complete the 6^th row.

You can similarly increase the base size of bag for example making 7^throw, make 5 single double crochet in first 5 chains and in next chain 2 double crochet.

To make a basket shape:

To start a 7^th row make 2 chains and in each chain of double crochet make single crochet. The total number of single double crochet in each chain should be 72. To finish the 7^th row you have to make slip stitch.

Repeat the 7^th row process step by step to make 8^th row.

Note: When you make any design in any row the chain is formed in upper side of deign which act as a single chain for next row.

Shell Stitch Crochet

To start any design makes a foundation chain or base chain according the size of your project. To decide the number of chain measure your project size and then make 5 chain and measure with the measuring tape. And according to it make a chain and 2, 3 chain extra according to the design.

Shell Stitch crochet:

Ø  I made 30 base chain then skip first chain and insert a hook in next chain.

Ø  Then make 5 double crochet into the same chain.

Ø  To make a double crochet: yarn over on hook and pull it through then you will see there is 3 loops on hook. Then again yarn over and draw through both the loops and only one loop remains on hook. The double crochet is formed. Then make a single chain and again make 5 double crochet in same chain.

Ø  Then skip 2 chain and make slip stitch (Insert hook in 3^rd chain and yarn over there is 2 loops on hook. Then draw through both the loops). You can either make single crochet.

Ø  Then again skip 2 chains and insert hook on 3^rd chain and make 5 double crochet into the same chain.

Ø  Then again skip 2 chains and insert hook on 3^rd chain and make slip stitch. Follow these steps to complete the first row.

Ø  To start a next row make 2 chain and then insert a hook on slip stitch chain and make 5 double crochet.

Ø  You can either make 3 double crochet on same chain and then skip 2 chains and make a slip stitch.

Ø  Then skip the 2 chains and insert the hook on 3^rd chain and into that chain make 5 double crochet.

Ø  Then skip 2 chains and make slip stitch on 3^rd chain. Repeat these steps again and again to complete the 2^nd row.

Ø  Repeat these steps to make 3^rd, 4^th and further row.

There is various ways to make this design beautiful like

Ø  Making a 30 base chain and make 2 more chain. And then, skip two chains and yarn over on hook and insert hook on 3^rd chain to make double crochet in each 30 chain.

Ø  For second row make 2 chains and skip 2 chains and insert hook on 3^rd chain and make shell stitch and then skip 2 chains and insert hook on 3^rd chain and make slip stitch.

Ø  Then again skip 2 chains and make shell stitch on 3^rd chain. Repeat this process to complete the 2^nd row.

Ø  To finish 2^nd row make slip stitch and then, make 2 more chains for 3^rd row.

Ø  After making 2 chains for 3^rd row, make slip stitch on 3^rd double crochet chain of 2^nd row or make slip stitch on 3^rd chain and then again skip 2 chains and make shell stitch.

Ø  Repeat these steps to complete the 3^rd row.

Second way to make shell stitch is:

Ø  Make a 3 double crochet into same chain and then make 2 chains. Again make 3 double crochet into the same stitch.

Ø  Then skip 2 chains and follow the above steps to make a 2^nd shell stitch and so on. I skip the slip stitch step in this process. Repeat this step to complete the first row.

Ø  For 2^nd row you have to make 2 chains.

Ø  And insert hook on 2 chains of shell stitch and make 3 double crochet into same chain and then make 2 chains. Again make 3 double crochet into the same stitch.

Ø  Follow above steps to complete the 3^rd row.

Basic Crochet Stitches

Hello, Everyone I am going to share some crochet design with all of you.

First of all we need to know the basic items require for crochet that is:

Crochet Hooks: There are different hooks available in market for different size of yarn. The hooks are made of different material like steel, aluminium, bamboo etc. The thinnest hook is made from steel and used for thinnest yarn.

Yarn: The second item is yarn with the help of it colourful projects are made. The yarn made from different fibres like cotton, acrylic, polyester etc. Cotton yarn is use for making a table runner

Scissors: A scissor is needed to cut the yarn at the end of the projects or design.

Needle: It is helpful for hiding your ended yarn in your projects or you can use hook instead of needle.

How to hold Crochet Hooks and Yarn?

You can hold crochet hook like you hold a pen or the way you are comfortable. In right hand you hold a crochet hook and in left hand you hold a yarn tightly with index finger to make a design according to your project. One thing always remembers that holding a yarn properly makes your design perfect.

How to make knot?

You can make a knot with the help of crochet hooks or with fingers. I make a knot with fingers. First  make a loop of yarn with index and thumb fingers and pull the longest yarn tail into the loop and insert the hook into that loop and pull the shortest tail or free tail to make a knot.  

How to make a Chain?

After making a knot, yarn over the hook and pull through dawn and your first chain is ready. The yarn on hook is goes up and down so you have to hold it with your thumb. You have to practice on making basic chain or foundation chain for any crochet design. To make a perfect chain which is not too tight or too loose makes your design beautiful.

Base Chain

Slip Stitch: It is uses to finish the design by joining the closing and starting design. Insert the hook into the starting design yarn and yarn over and pull through it. Only one loop remains on the hook

Single Crochet: To make a single crochet first of all you have to make chain stitches and then insert a hook in previous chain and yarn over on hook. You can see two loops on a hook. You pull the yarn draw through into the entire loop and only one loop remains in a hook.

Half Double Crochet:

The steps are:

·         Yarn over on hook

·        Insert a hook in previous chain
Then pull the yarn through the previous chain

·        There are 3 loop in a hook

·         Again yarn over on hook

·         And pull it through into 3 loops

·         Only one loop remains in a hook.

Double Crochet: To make a double crochet following steps are needed:

·         yarn over on hook then

·         insert a hook on previous chain and yarn over on hook

·         Then pull the yarn through hook

·         There are 3 loops in a hook then

·         Yarn over on hook and pull the yarn through hook into two loops

·         Now there are 2 loops in hook then

·         Again yarn over on hook and pull the yarn through hook into 2 loops and only one loop remain in a hook.
